Overview
D&W Elements already had a collection of skyline posters, but they needed additional designs for cities and states they had not yet covered. My task was to research each city’s skyline, illustrate it to fit within the state’s shape, and ensure it matched the company’s established style. These prints were then added to their online store as new products.

The Challenge
One of the biggest challenges was finding quality reference images for each skyline and then scaling the designs to fit within the unique shapes of each state. Additionally, since this was my first internship, I had to adjust to working remotely and receiving constructive feedback on my work for the first time. Another challenge was adapting to the company’s specific design style. I initially had my own creative vision, but I quickly learned that the designs needed to align with what the company knew would sell rather than my personal aesthetic.
The Solution
To overcome these challenges, I focused on: > Aligning with the company’s branding and style while still incorporating subtle unique touches into each design. > Following a flat color style while ensuring depth and contrast, similar to the company’s past skyline prints. > Adapting to feedback and refining my designs to meet the owner’s expectations and market demands.
The Result
By the end of my internship, I had contributed multiple new skyline prints to the company’s store, allowing them to expand their product offerings and attract more buyers. This project helped me develop skills in receiving feedback, working with brand guidelines, and balancing creative freedom with client expectations.
